Superb Large Antique Asian Ethnic Solid Silver Cuff Bracelet, 19th Century

  

Magnificent, imposing rigid open cuff bracelet dating from the late 19th century. This remarkable example of traditional Southeast Asian silverwork from the Golden Triangle showcases exceptional craftsmanship and precision. Made of high-purity solid silver, tested and found to be dense, malleable, and beautifully worked.

Rich in symbolism, the hand-chased repoussé decoration depicts GARUDA, the winged protective deity, enthroned above the colored cabochon and a finely textured structure. The sides feature a frieze of mythological guardian deities beneath lotus flowers in full bloom.

The lower border is adorned with superb chased floral friezes, while the upper edge has a multilobed outline.

The central cabochon features a disc of stone or mother-of-pearl, securely held in its original setting.

In very good overall antique condition, with a magnificent contrasting patina that beautifully accentuates the depth of the relief decoration.
