Antique spider brooch in silver gilt and rhinestones, circa 1900, insect motif. Sublime antique brooch depicting a realistic spider. This collectible piece is made of solid silver (boar hallmark), originally covered with a thin layer of gold (vermeil). The authentic patina has given way to a silvery tone on the top, while the vermeil remains clearly visible on the underside of the jewel, attesting to its age. The abdomen is adorned with a pavé of rhinestones (antique glass) that adds a subtle sparkle.

The eight articulated legs and chelicerae are finely engraved with great realism. Materials: Solid silver (boar hallmark), vermeil (traces visible on the back).

Dimensions: Approximately 4.5 cm wide. Clasp: Piston clasp system, typical of jewelry from this period, fully functional. The natural patina highlights the relief of the piece. This jewel belongs to the naturalist movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a period when jewelry celebrated faithful representations of flora and fauna. The spider, a recurring motif of the era, was often seen as a symbol of patience and hard work. The vermeil technique, combining the nobility of gold with the structure of solid silver, was the standard in fine jewelry to give pieces greater depth and durability.
